Attendance
Support
Please speak to your school Designated Safeguarding Lead or Headteacher for advise on encouraging attendance in your child.
Regular attendance at school means that your child can make the most of their education, improving their chances in adult life. School can also help your child’s social skills such as making and developing friendships. A regular and punctual attendance pattern will help your child when they enter the world of work. The link between attendance and attainment in school is clear. The more a pupil is in the school the more they increase their opportunity to fulfil their potential.
Where possible all medical appointments should be booked outside of school hours. Where it is not possible, the amount of school time missed must be kept to a minimum.
Children can attend school with minor ailments (toothache, headache, stomach ache, cold, sore throat) over the counter medicines can be given before & during school. School will contact you if your child becomes to ill to remain in school. Children should be off school for 24 hours if they have diarrhoea or vomiting.
If you are unsure how long your child should be absent with an illness speak to the school office, your doctor or your pharmacist for advice.
Holidays during term time WILL NOT be authorised. The Headteacher may consider requests for leave of absence ONLY in exceptional circumstances. Failure to request leave of absence will result in the absences being recorded unauthorised and you may be liable for statutory action.
